Twitter May Add Video Content From Viacom, NBC
The social network is in talks with Viacom and NBCUniversal about bringing more professional video to the site and selling ads against them, according to Bloomberg. Twitter would split the ad revenues with the networks. One or more of the deals may be reached by mid-May according to the report.
Twitter reps could not immediately be reached for comment.
The report, which came on the same day that Advertising Age reported that Facebook was planning to launch video ads this summer, also followed Twitter's recent deal with The Weather Channel to build video content around "weather events." Twitter also worked with ESPN in 2012 to create custom ad programs around major sporting events.
