Surfing through the eyes of dynamic realist and illustrator Bryn Hall
Born in West Cornwall, U.K., Bryn ‘Byrd’ Hall grew up chasing swells between the Cornish peninsula’s north and south coasts. With her 5-foot, 6-inch shortboard in hand, Hall followed a path less traveled, embarking on a career as a freelance artist inspired by the ocean.
Today, Hall is gaining acclaim in the art world by experimenting with graphics on skateboards and surfboards using spray paint, Posca pens, and even the odd tattoo gun.
“I like to take something old, discarded, perhaps slightly overlooked, and turn it into something beautiful,” said Hall. “I recently made a mirror frame out of thousands of pieces of drift plastic; it keeps the beach clean, and looks awesome.”
